food4future-scientist Dr. Anna Fricke has been working in a team of international macroalgae experts with the EU body  Eklipse  to shed light on the ecosystem services of macroalgae cultivation and evaluate their potential for European waters.

Within this framework a report has now been published, assessing present information on macroalgae cultivation and identifying existing knowledge gaps to support the further development of a sustainable European algal economy. The report has been presented in Brussels on June 13 to the European Commission’s Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) and serves to guide the future of this important aquaculture sector in the coming years.
