Ceremonial welcoming of the new Scientific Director of the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ)

To celebrate the inauguration of the new Scientific Director Prof. Nicole van Dam, the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) invited guests from politics, research and practice to the institute’s location in Großbeeren today, Monday 10 October 2022.

In the former greenhouse, the Minister of Research of the State of Brandenburg, Dr Manja Schüle, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Dr Manuela Rottmann, and the Vice-President of the Leibniz Association, Prof Barbara Sturm, gave their welcoming addresses. The former Director of Research Prof. Eckhard George, who was also bid farewell at this occasion after more than 20 years of managing the IGZ, handed over the symbolic key of the Institute to Prof. Nicole van Dam. In her speech, Nicole van Dam gave an overview of the direction of her research, her vision for the research work of the IGZ and the challenges and opportunities for horticultural research in the future.
