In the upcoming climate change and global warming challenges, feeding the increasing population is difficult. Higher average temperatures and larger temperature fluctuations will negatively affect agricultural crop production. The loss of crop productivity might lead to widespread famine. It is crucial to understand how plants adapt to changing climates and higher temperatures. Phenotypic Plasticity (PP) is a remarkable biological concept that enables a single genotype to exhibit various phenotypes. The main research theme of my project is to study how plants adapt to different climates. My main interest lies in uncovering the molecular basis of temperature perception and understanding the pathways by which these signals are integrated into plant growth and development. I am eager to identify key signalling components and the underlying transcriptional and translational regulatory networks of temperature-sensing pathways in other plant species.
