Programm area BIOTIC Research group BIOTIC 2

My research experience is broadly focused on the assessment of floral volatile organic compounds (VOCs), investigating the biosynthetic pathways involved in their formation, understanding their accumulation patterns and exploring their ecological roles.

Main research interests:

  • Role of floral signalling including VOCs in plant-pollinator and other biotic interactions.
  • Impact of environmental stressors on floral signalling and how these affect pollinator attraction in plants.
  • Plant metabolomics including volatile and non-volatile metabolites and gene expression patterns associated with the biosynthesis of these metabolites under stress conditions.

I am also involved as a platform expert under the Science Support Platform (SSP) at IGZ to facilitate metabolite analysis and interpretation on a range of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) platforms available at the institute.
