In February, Tilman Brück, Heisenberg Professor for Economic Development and Food Security at the Thaer Institute of Humboldt University and Research Group Leader at IGZ, delivered a compelling inaugural lecture. Titled "Towards Zero Hunger: How economic research can help people live free from hunger and violence" the lecture delved into the nuanced challenges faced by the world's poorest, drawing from Professor Brück's extensive research in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

From the complex interplay of violence, fragility, displacement, to climate shocks, Prof Brück presented key findings on how these factors impact lives, incomes, and food security. The KOSMOS reading showcased concrete interventions aimed at ending hunger globally.

The lecture, moderated by Prof. Dr. Martin Odening, Head of the Department of General Management in Agriculture and Managing Director at the Thaer Institute, stands as a significant contribution to the ongoing discourse on global food security.
