Spring School 2023

The Spring School is a joint initiative of the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ), the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) and the Leibniz Institute of Food Systems Biology (LSB). It is aimed at PhD students and young scientists from the three institutes and is intended to provide an insight into new research approaches, tools and methods in the field of omics technologies, bioinformatics, metabolic pathways and systems biology. These methods and techniques are relevant to all areas of the life sciences, but they are used to answer very different questions. With the Spring School, we want to facilitate interdisciplinary exchange and create synergies between human and plant research through interaction between the participants, but also with the speakers. This should open up space for the development of new scientific questions across institutes and lead to a sustainable and lively interaction between the scientists and the participating Leibniz Institutes. Finally, the collaboration in the Spring School should also contribute to thinking about and addressing scientific questions or current global challenges in a systemic and holistic way.
The Spring School will also address complementary topics that have become very important for the everyday life of scientists, including visualization as a means of knowledge transfer and better understanding of research content, data management, research integrity and open science. With insight into these important topics, participants will be sensitized and encouraged to incorporate these important principles into their daily scientific practice.
