As of 01.03.2023, the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) will have a new head of administration, Mr. Markus Randig. Since spring 2022, Markus Randig has already been leading the administration on a provisional basis.

Markus Randig holds a degree in business administration and studied Public Administration at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. He was assistant to the management at GILUPI Nanomedizin GmbH and deputy finance manager at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP) for many years. He has been working at the IGZ since 2018, initially as finance manager and deputy head of administration, and since the beginning of 2022 additionally as acting head of administration. At the beginning of March 2023, Markus Randig will take over the administrative management of the IGZ.

Prof. Nicole van Dam, Scientific Director of the IGZ welcomes the future cooperation: "I am very pleased that Mr. Randig will take over the administrative management of the IGZ. With him, we get an extremely competent administrative manager with a lot of experience in the Leibniz Association, with a heart for our research and the employees* at the institute."

Markus Randig: "The administrative management of a research institute is a challenging and exciting task, which I look forward to with pleasure. I am motivated by the idea of being able to contribute to solving socially relevant problems together with the researchers, my colleagues in the administration and the board of directors. The IGZ is an institute with enormous development potential.  I am very optimistic that together we will successfully master the challenges ahead."
