As part of the BMBF-funded project MicroFunction, a team of the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) visited the Agrosavia’s Colombian research stations. The project aims to develop innovative recycling products for sustainable land use.

A research team from IGZ recently visited the Turipaná Research Center and the El Carmen de Bolívar Center of Agrosavia - Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria in Colombia. This exchange took place within the framework of the MicroFunction project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project focuses on developing innovative recycling products that serve as biobased fertilizers and soil improvers to promote sustainable agricultural practices.

The collaboration between German and Colombian partners includes, in addition to IGZ, the Technical University of Munich and the University of Rostock. A key aspect of the project is student exchange between Colombia and Germany, actively involving young researchers in the scientific work.

The visit to Agrosavia provided an opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations, engage with local farmers and companies, and explore new avenues for future cooperation. The IGZ team extends its sincere thanks to the hosts for organizing and facilitating this valuable exchange.
