Friends and Foes in Horticulture: Interactions Between Plants and Insects
On 9 May 2026, proWissen Potsdam e.V. will host the Potsdam Science Day for the thirteenth time, this time on the grounds of the University of Potsdam at the Golm campus.
More than 40 universities, schools and research institutions in Brandenburg – including the IGZ once again! – will present their everyday work beyond the walls of their institutes.
At the IGZ, everything centers around the question: How do plants communicate with insects – and which ones help or harm? At our stand, you can discover fascinating interactions in the garden. Guess plant scents, play a magnetic memory game – ‘Who goes with whom?’ – observe tiny crawlers under a magnifying glass and test your knowledge in a quiz. You’ll learn how plants defend themselves against pests, attract beneficial insects in a targeted way, and what role scents, natural predators and ecological relationships play in this.
