Open Day at the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ)
Open Day at the IGZ – 100 years of horticultural science in Großbeeren
100 years of scientific research in Großbeeren – the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) is marking this anniversary by opening its doors for an open house. On 27 September 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the IGZ invites all interested parties to an open day to showcase the diversity of current horticultural research.
The focus will be on research approaches at the interface between plants, the environment and humans, including the following questions:
How can vegetable production be adapted to the consequences of climate change?
What role do algae play in the nutrition of the future?
And how important is plant diversity for a healthy, sustainable diet?
Visitors can expect a varied programme with hands-on stations, project presentations and guided tours of our research facilities and laboratories in Großbeeren.
The Teaching and Research Institute for Horticulture and Arboriculture (Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Gartenbau und Arboristik e.V.) is also represented with a stand on the institute's premises.
Whether you are a family, a neighbour or simply interested in science, we look forward to your visit and to sharing our research with you!
