re:publica25: Future Generations-Generator

re:publica Berlin 2025

re:publica 25 will take place from 26-28 May 2025 at STATION Berlin. This time, the motto of the festival for the digital society is ‘Generation XYZ’. 

What digital world do we want to live in? Our democratic society is being put to the test. There is a lack of spaces, both online and offline, where generations can meet openly to reassure themselves that there is more that connects us than divides us. For re:publica 25 we are trying to strengthen the intergenerational solidarity that we so urgently need right now – so we invite all generations to join us in the discussion. Our collective knowledge makes us smarter, our cultural passions more creative, and with united courage we are unbeatable.

As always, the programme brings the most important topics regarding the internet, its communities and the opportunities and challenges that arise from the digitalisation of society on stage. You can expect exciting
formats such as discussions, talks, workshops, performances and much more.

The “food4future - Food forthe Future” project, coordinated by the IGZ and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is participating with an installation:

Future Generations Generator (German)

The Future Generations Generator project invites you to creatively name future generations and explore through playful interaction which values, habits and technologies could characterise them. The installation combines randomly generated generation names with attributes such as favourite food, values or trends. Visitors can use a slot machine-like setup with a screen and mini-printer to create names and scenarios and print them out directly. The aim is to use humour and creativity to create a space for reflection and discussion about social developments.
