Methodenkurs Volatilomics
The course provides an introduction to volatilomics with a focus on its role in plant physiology, agricultural and ecological (plant, microbes, insect interaction) studies. Participants will explore the significance and applications of volatilomics methods, with particular emphasis on gas chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry. Both targeted and non-targeted analytical strategies are covered. The course also addresses the distinction between volatile and non-volatile plant metabolites, along with key steps in sample preparation, instrument optimization, compound separation, detection and data analysis. The course enables participants to get familiarized with the topic, as well as to choose the best design and analysis approach to support their research projects.
